Our workshop
Our equipment comprises all that is necessary for the creation of a variety of items from the Cypriot semi-precious stones. A large diamond saw is used for the cutting of the larger gemstones or geodes, which are then worked using the other equipment. Smaller pieces may be worked by hand on the flat lap, but larger pieces are polished on the large automated vibrating lap. In all cases the process is labour-intensive because care must be taken at all times to ensure that coarser grits from previous stages do not contaminate the next stage. But the reward is a highly polished surface which reveals all the hidden beauty of the gemstone to maximum effect.

Used for trimming and shaping gemstone slices of cabochon preforms

A traditional but laborious way of polishing gemstones through a series of silicon carbide grits finishing with cerium oxide

Used for cutting large pieces of gemstone, this diamond saw is the backbone of the workshop.

Capable of continuous operation, this vibrolap is used for grinding and polishing those large pieces which cannot be worked on the traditional flat lap, whilst leaving the operator free to concentrate on other tasks.

Equipped with a series of seven grinding and polishing wheels, this machine is capable of grinding and polishing cabochons and other freeforms without the need for changing wheels.
